Rodger "Kingfish" Crowder - Harmonica & Vocals
Rodger
“Kingfish” Crowder was either born with the blues or acquired
them soon after. Like a lot of blues greats, Rodger turned to music
as a comfort to hardships he faced in life. He lost both his father
and stepfather at a young age…combine that with a few broken hearts
from the ladies and you have a pretty good start as a true blues singer.
Sometimes, to have soul, you have to suffer. But just like the blues,
there is a happy side to this tale. Rodger formed his own blues band
in 1997 called Kingfish and The Bluecats, and was able to let the blues
heal his heartaches. With the band he was honored to receive the Nat
Gee award from the James River Blues Society for outstanding individual
performer at their second annual Blues competition. Here's what some
people are saying about Rodger "Kingfish" Crowder:
"…A much more refreshing taste of smoke than that 2-pack
a day habit." -James River Blues Society
“The Kingfish sings the Blues with heart and lot’s of Soul
. He is a true Blues musician and sings with lot’s of spirit…Blues
Spirit.” -City Magazine-
